Itadogun – March
March 1 @ 6:00 pm – March 3 @ 6:00 pm
Itadogun is a significant event in the Ifa religious calendar, occurring every 90 days. Here at the Ofun’Di we observe this significant event every Quarter. This festival is a communal occasion for Ifa reading, where the wellbeing of the leadership and community members is the primary focus. It serves as an opportunity for the community to gather, pray, fellowship, and receive divinations and guidance from Ifa. This process helps in aligning with destiny and attracting blessings for both individuals and the community as a whole.
The essence of Itadogun lies in its communal nature, where all members of the Ifa/Orisa communities, including Egbe groups, temples, Babalawos, and Iyanifas, participate in divination and perform ebos (rituals). These activities collectively show appreciation to Olodumare (the Supreme God), Ifa, Orisa, and Egungun, and help in making appeasements based on the community’s needs and messages received during the divination.
The event is not only a time for spiritual activities but also for reinforcing community bonds and expressing gratitude towards the divine forces. Donations during Itadogun are considered vital for the success of the community. These contributions support Babalawos, Iyanifas, and Olorisa Priests in gathering materials for the necessary ebos and carrying out the divination work. Participating in Itadogun and contributing to it is seen as an act of good behavior and appreciation towards the Orisa and the spiritual leaders of the community.
For Omo Awo, or devotees of Ifa, participating in Itadogun is crucial. It is a time when they can receive essential messages and guidance from Ifa, ensuring they remain aligned with their destiny. The festival also allows them to contribute to the collective well-being and prosperity of their community, reinforcing their commitment to the Ifa tradition and its teachings.
Join us in the sacred celebration of Itadogun, a pivotal moment in our Ifa calendar, which, in our Ofun’Di Temple, we celebrate every Quarter. This communal gathering is more than a ritual; it is a profound expression of our collective spirituality and commitment to the well-being of each other under the guidance of Ifa. Itadogun is a time to come together in prayer, fellowship, and divine consultation, where we receive valuable insights for our community’s prosperity and individual destinies.
As Omo Awo, your participation is not just an act of personal spiritual growth but a vital contribution to the vibrancy and harmony of our entire community. Be a part of this beautiful expression of gratitude, unity, and spiritual enrichment, as we seek blessings and guidance from Olodumare and the Orisa. Your presence and contribution during Itadogun are essential, as we together uphold the traditions and teachings of Ifa, strengthening the bonds within our community and paving the way for collective prosperity and spiritual alignment.
